Peter Newlinds grew up listening to legendary sports broadcasters of the day, Alan McGilvray, Rex Mossop and Frank Hyde, and dreamed of becoming a commentator himself. He was one of the lucky few to convert his dream into reality.
From his first job as a teenager of working inside the grand old scoreboard at the SCG, Peter worked his way up the sports radio chain and was eventually offered a job at the ABC’s premier sports program, Grandstand. Peter Newlinds (pictured) grew up in Sydney and studied Communications in Canberra before joining community sports radio station Triple S. Peter then moved to the ABC for the next 18 years where he covered everything from cricket, rugby league and AFL, two Commonwealth Games as well as numerous Sydney to Hobart Yacht Races. He focusses more on writing these days but the call of the commentator’s microphone is never far away. David Brewster is a Melbourne-based freelance writer. He established his own writing business in 2009 after a career in management and management consulting. His work focuses predominantly in memoir and business genres.
